Amy Jones is a college counselor at Future Stars College Counseling Center. Amy holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Duke University, where she graduated with honors and received the Duke University William J. Griffith University Service Award. She also holds a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco and is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
For the past fifteen years, Amy has worked in some of the most prestigious high schools in California as a college, academic and personal counselor, a teacher and a coach. From 2010 to 2014, Amy served as the leader of the Bay Area Independent Schools Health Association (the school counselors group), which has a membership of more than 30 private and parochial independent high schools. In addition, she has been the owner and director of an educational consulting firm in the Bay Area. In 2015, Amy joined the faculty at Folsom Lake College where she is currently working part-time as an Adjunct Professor in the Counseling Department.
Amy has extensive experience conducting college admissions and financial aid workshops, attends a variety of college fairs and professional conferences annually and has toured many college campuses throughout the United States and abroad. She also has experience helping student-athletes through the recruiting progress. Amy worked as a swim coach for over a decade, and during that time she coached more than a dozen All-American athletes as well as one future Olympian.
Having both attended and worked at highly academic institutions, she is sensitive to the issues students face and has developed a variety of counseling techniques designed to empower students and parents throughout the college admissions process. With her enthusiasm, energy and passion for education Amy has assisted hundreds of students in successfully navigating the admissions process, and she is excited to continue to help students find their “right fit” at Future Stars.
